We are a RECONCILING Church

What does it mean to affiliate with RMN?

"Reconciling Ministries" are churches, faith communities, and campus groups that officially commit to welcoming and supporting LGBTQ+ people in all areas of church life, including leadership. These ministries are part of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN), an organization working for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the United Methodist Church (UMC).

At the most recent General Conference, the UMC made historic changes by removing long-standing rules that discriminated against LGBTQ+ people. However, just because these policies have changed doesn’t mean that all churches and communities are fully welcoming yet.

For a church or group to officially become a Reconciling Ministry, at least 75% of its members must vote in favor of a statement affirming this commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Why are we a Reconciling Congregation?

“We celebrate God’s gift of diversity and value the wholeness made possible in community equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, level of education, and family structure, and of every economic, immigration, marital, and social status, and so much more. We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.”
